Since the beginning of the 19th century, the Ferla company has been producing luxurious fabrics in rare baby alpaca, wool, linen, cotton, silk and bamboo. These fabrics, in turn, are used in tailored jackets, suits and overcoats for discerning men and women.
The Biella district of Piedmont has been one of the world's major centers for the wool industry. A dense network of mills has been established in the Biellese valleys, which has led to a truly flexible system, always ready to respond to changing market demands and conditions. However, since 2000, a crisis in the sector has forced many local wool mills to close, unable to compete with the extremely low prices of fabric and clothing from China. Ferla is one of the tenacious survivors.
