A spectacular exhibition at the 2009 Venice Biennale combines film, theater and art to create an extraordinary sounding multimedia performance by the Dutch director, Peter Greenaway.
The Wedding at Cana by Paolo Veronese exhibited on the rear wall of the Benedictine refectory on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, is part of Greenaway's unique, ongoing project where he visits and explores nine classic paintings, from Renaissance to modern works.

Greenaway's interpretation of Veronese's masterful banquet scene is revealed by using cutting edge images, lighting, music, voices and sounds, Greenaway wants the visitor to relive the marriage feast at Cana where Christ accomplished his first miracle.
Greenaway identifies many of the characters in the painting while images, light and sound envelope you until the narration culminates in the miracle of water turning into wine!
