"Il Quarto Stato" (Fourth Estate) is a huge Neo-Impressionst painting that was originally banned by the Fascists. It began to enjoy a renewed admiration during the 1960's becoming an symbol for class struggle. It is part of the permanent collection of the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Milano.
The image of "The Fourth Estate" was used for the original Italian poster of Bernardo Bertolucci's 1976 epic film, "Novecento" or "1900".
Currently there is an exhibition of work by Pellizza and other Italian Neo-Impressionists such as, Giovanni Segantini, Emilio Longoni and Angelo Morbelli, at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in NYC.
