Bill Buford's book to be released on May 30, 2006.
You may have seen an excerpt from Heat in the May issue of the New Yorker magazine entitled "Carnal Knowledge".
Subtitled, An Amateur's Adventures as Kitchen Slave, Line Cook, Pasta-Maker, and Apprentice to a Dante-Quoting Butcher in Tuscany, Heat continues Bill's investigation of what it is to be a chef through his experiences working side by side with NYC chef Mario Batali at Babbo, Marco Pierre White and Tuscan butcher, Dario Cecchini.
Mr. Buford has also written a searing account of British soccer fans entitled Among the Thugs
