Nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category, many scenes from the Italian film Don't Tell were shot in Virginia.

The film is based on the novel, La Bestia nel Cuore (The Beast in the Heart), written by director Cristina Comencini. She is the daughter of renowned Italian director, Luigi Comencini.

The historic Lawn at the University of Virginia and at other locations around Charlottesville were used in the film. Cristina Comencini chose the University of Virginia because of her fascination with Thomas Jefferson and his architecture.

The plot involves Sabina (played by Giovanna Mezzogiorno), an aspiring actress, whose life is filled with her boyfriend, family and friends. Her life is disrupted when she begins having disturbing nightmares of her childhood. She travels to the United States to visit her brother (Luigi Lo Cascio), who is a university professor and they explore the secrets of their past.

The film is due to be released in the United States on March 17, 2006.
