The famous Bonfire of St. Martin is celebrated November 11 in Scanno, Abruzzo.

Scanno is located in the Apennine mountains of Abruzzo some 2000m above sea level. It is an old stone village which was built sometime before the Roman era. In this village traditional customs and events are followed and handed down. The lifestyle is simple and authentic Italian.

Each year the neighborhoods of Scanno compete to build the most magnificent pyres which burn throughout the night. The festival includes live music, dancing, eating and drinking.
