If you are visiting Milan, this Renaissance Carthusian Monastery is worth a detour.

The “Gra Car” Gratiarum Cartusia, is one of the most remarkable buildings produced in the Lombard style. It was founded in 1396 by Gian Galeazzo Visconti of Milan. A large part of the monastery was built in the 15th and 16th century following the plans of two successive architects, Amadeo and Lombardo.
