When visiting Palermo, the ever popular Vucceria market is definitely worth a visit but the lesser known Ballaro market should not be missed.

In the district of Alberghiera, the tables at the colorful Ballar Market are heavy with a myriad of herbs and spices, fish of all shapes and sizes and fresh local vegetables. The market, and its very name, date from Arab times. Ballaro is located between Piazza Ballar and Piazza del Carmine, near Church of the Carmine.
