Tenuta di Arceno

images.jpeg
The historic Tenuta di Arceno was once a semi-feudal self-sustaining estate owned by wealthy Sienese. Then Jess Jackson of Kendall-Jackson Winery of California arrived!

Jess Jackson of Kendall-Jackson bought 2200 acres of mixed agricultural land, 200 acres planted to vines, the rest to olive orchards, arable land and forests. Restrictions prohibit clearing the forests for development.

About 100 acres of the land is planted to the traditional Tuscan varieties of Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano, Malvasia Nera and Colorino, mostly from the '60s. The rest of the property has been planted with an eye to experimentation to discover optimum varieties. They include Sangiovese and other traditional varieties as well as "foreign" varieties such as Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah.
