Dario's Dinner

Dario Cecchini, who has been called the "mad butcher of Panzano", sponsors an annual charity dinner whose proceeds are donated to the Children's Hospital in Florence. This years' event will be Sunday August 14, 2005.

Years ago, when Dario first conceived the idea for the dinner, he knew he wanted it to be an al fresco meal. In order to host this type of dinner in Panzano, he was faced with a certain logistical problem. How could he invite his fellow villagers and Tuscan neighbors to his dinner if he couldn't provide the seating on the hillside street? After some consideration and thoughtful design, Dario had specially constructed long wooden tables with graduated heights to accommodate the streets of Panzano.Once the seating was designed, the menu of traditional Tuscan meats ( a specialty of Dario's) and local vegetables was the easy part.

Since we will be in the area reviewing our collection of vacation homes, we are thrilled to be able to attend this years' dinner.
