Piero Fornasetti, painter, sculptor, furniture maker and ceramist was born in Milan in 1935 and worked there until his death in 1988.
Fornasetti, a prolific designer, created ceramic plates, cups and saucers, teapots, glasses, vases, furniture, and clothing (ties, hats and scarves) with leitmotifs of the sun, playing cards, fish, flowers and butterflies.
