"Passolini" are grapes that are placed in a tangerine peel, then wrapped in the leaves of lemon and tied up with rush thread.


The villa and its park were designed in 1605 for Cardinal Scipione Borghese, nephew of Pope Paul V. The park was the first of its kind in Rome. It contained 400 newly planted pine trees, gardens by Bernini’s father, Pietro and a dramatic waterworks built by Giovanni Fontana.
