Ravida's 16th century La Gurra estate overlooks the Mediterranean and the Greek Temples of Selinunte. 130 acres of olive groves and 120 acre vineyard as well as lemon groves and fields of artichokes and wheat, all farmed organically.
The Ravida's are a noble Sicilian family, whose roots are known since the 13th century. Their ancestors held high government positions and are remembered in the Catholic Church for the Beatus Aloysius Ravida (1428-1490). The estate, rich with vineyards and olive groves, was acquired through marriage in mid 1700.
The Villa in Menfi, a fine example of neoclassic architecture, is the family summer residence where they host tastings and cooking courses. The farm has been given new life under Nicolo Ravida who has been named "the most prominent olive oil producer in Sicily" for his marketing and managing skills.
Azienda Agricola Ravidą produces:
Olives: Cerasuola and Biancolilla along with a small amount of Nocellara and Belice olives.
Ravidą Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
The oil, in 1996, was awarded the prestigious Oriciolo d\'Oro for the second time by Italian olive oil producers.
Sea Salt
Cooking courses with top chefs are held on the estate.
