The classic beers of Italy were created in the mid 19th-century. Luigi Moretti established his brewery in 1859. Francesco Peroni started the Peroni brewery in 1864.
Today the Peroni Group, the largest Italian Beer Industry, operates with a general administration and four breweries situated in Bari, Naples, Rome, and Padua, with a total production of 5 million hectoliters per year and over 1.000 employees.
