Mariano Fortuny

| | Comments (1)

Mariano Fortuny is best known for his famous hand-pleated silk Delphos dress but the artist worked in other media as well.

Fortuny was also a painter, etcher, sculptor, photographer, lighting engineer, set designer, theater director, inventor and architect.

Beyond his timeless Delphos dress, Fortuny designed more than 800 costumes and modern interior furnishings. His love for fine fabrics with a theatrical sense of lighting is well known Scuro Saraceno and Scheherazade as examples.

I truly enjoyed reading your journal entry this morning. I was remembering our trip to Venice and why we did not purchase the two Fortuny lamps that afternoon. Too bad. Keep up the good work!
