Visiting a winery in Italy or France is much different than visiting a winery, say, in Napa Valley.
Most European wineries are not set-up to accommodate the general public. Small wineries, especially, are not equipped to host impromptu visits by even the most passionate enthusiast. They also do not make enough wine to be in a position to offer you a large quantity during a tasting.
Therefore, we respectfully advise, that a winery visit be arranged in advance. Fax or e-mail a clearly stated request in English for an appointment. If you give the winery a few dates/times from which to choose, it may assist them in accommodating you. Your request should also include the number of people in your party and the general level of wine knowledge you may have.
Italy calling or faxing: Dial International code first: (011) then the Italy country code: (39) then the area code: (ex.055) and then the rest of the number.
France calling or faxing: Dial International code first: (011) then the France country code: (33) then the area code: (ex.4) and then the rest of the number.
Once your appointment to visit is confirmed, it is best to inform the winery ahead of time if there are any problems with making the scheduled appointment time and especially if you need to cancel your visit. The winery will appreciate your consideration.
It is always recommended that you graciously offer to purchase a few bottles of wine after your tasting.
