Armando Manni's Olive Oils

| | Comments (3)

Armando Manni, the Italian director of the 1998 film, "Elvis & Marilyn", which according to him was, "after Life Is Beautiful … the most awarded Italian movie out of Italy" also produces two award-winning olive oils.

Located in the village of Seggiano in southern Tuscany, Armando's olives grow on the slopes of Mt. Amiata. This volcanic area also produces an array of thermal springs, like Bagni San Filippo and Bagno Vignoni, scattered across the countryside.

Using a unique process, Armando's rare Olivastra Seggianese olives produce two oils with endearing names. One is called Per Mio Figlio ( for my son) and the other is named Per Me (for me). They are bottled in small dark bottles to protect the oil from damaging light and they are sealed with synthetic corks like wine.

These oils have become the "olive oil of choice" for many high-profile chefs across the world, from Charlie Trotter in Chicago to Heinz Beck (La Pergola) in Rome.
