Proprietors: Hatsuyo Noda (Mama Chino) and Junzo Chino emigrated from Japan to California in the 1920’s. Hatsuyo died in 1990; Junzo died in 1991.
Interred with their family of 7 (eventually 9) children during the war for three years in Poston, Arizona.
Present day proprietors: Tom Chino, president of Chino Nojo, Inc. and his wife Nina MacConnel along with Kazumi (Kay), Tom’s sister, Frank (master woodworker) and Fred Chino, Tom’s brothers.

Alice Waters and Wolfgang Puck were the first to use these exceptional vegetables back in 1971 and 1982 respectively.
