| This 18th-century villa has been their sea-side home for decades before author, John Steinbeck wrote his ecstatic article about Positano in Harpers Bazaar and exposed this slice of paradise to the world. The villa's position is high up in the oldest part of town with dramatic terraces overlooking much of Positano and the sea. Window screens, a rarity in Italy, are present on all windows. Some of the villas furnishings are quite valuable and consequently the house is not suitable for children other than infants and those over 12 years of age.
The house is on the main one-way street of Positano for maximum convenience and is set back for relative quiet. From the street, you will climb a set of stairs and enter the living area of the villa.
Shops, banks, post office, restaurants, and the local bus are steps away. The towns of Sorrento, Amalfi, and Maiori are 20 to 40 mins. by car or boat. The island of Capri: is 30 mins. by boat from Positano.
Naples and Pompeii are 1 hr. by car.
Rome and the Rome Airport are 3 1/2 hrs. by car.
